Breast Reduction is a common type of surgery which removes excessive and unwanted volume from the breasts and reshapes the remainder, aiming to leave the patient with a pleasing, smaller and much more comfortable breast size.
Typical reasons for breast reductions include:
In each of these cases the nipple areola complex (the nipple and surrounding skin) have been repositioned. The amount of breast volume removed is tailored to the patients needs. Scaring typically fades over the 6-12 months after your surgery.
The presence of macromastia or breast hypertrophy (excessively large breasts) can be the cause of extreme personal and social anxiety. As well as causing severe pain and discomfort in the neck, shoulders and back that may sometimes require medication.
Breast reduction surgery aims to alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with large, heavy breasts by removing excessive fat, cells and skin from the breasts and reshaping the remainder to a more pleasing and proportionate size for the patient’s body.
A breast reduction enables the patient to have a larger range of movement, unrestrained exercise and the ability to complete normal daily tasks that can otherwise be painful and impossible when restricted by large breasts.
The goal of this breast improvement surgery is to increase your confidence, boost self esteem and improve overall body image by making the breasts more proportionate to the size of the patient’s body giving and the ability to fit clothes and bras comfortably.
